Schoolhouse Quilts is located in the foothills of North Carolina in Forest City. We are about an hour from Charlotte, Hickory, Asheville, and Greenville, SC.
Our parents, Fred and Brenda Arrowood, began the business in the basement of their home in 1995. Brenda grew up quilting and sewing with her mother. She began teaching quilting in 1976 in Rutherford and surrounding counties and continued until her passing last year. She definitely had a wealth of quilting knowledge. While we do not possess even a thimble-full of the knowledge Mother had, we are continuing the business for which she was so passionate. We are working diligently to further what our parents started while also adding our own unique flare.
We offer a very comprehensive selection of quilting supplies. If you cannot find what you need, we will do our best to order it for you. We offer over 1500 book titles and every kind of notion a quilter will ever need or want. We offer over 3000 bolts of quality regular and Batik cotton fabrics by Benartex, StudioE, Henry Glass, Anthology, Northcott, Wilmington Batiks, Hoffman, In the Beginning, Batik Textiles, Banyan Batiks, Marcus Brothers, Timeless Treasures, and Kona.
Our notions and books are available in our online store. We offer some fabric online (mainly pre cuts and new lines), but our mother had so much fabric in inventory and we have simply not had the time to measure so many bolts.
We invite you to shop with us in our store, through our online shop, and at the shows at which we vend. Our shop is open 9:00 – 5:00 Monday and Wednesday – Friday and 9:00 – 2:00 on Saturday.
